Bam is an experienced and versatile drummer with a strong educational background from Duquesne University and the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School. He is the author of multiple instructional books on drum rudiments and teaching, published by Hudson Books, and is an active performer with several bands throughout the DMV area. Bam brings both academic insight and real-world playing experience into every lesson. Bam teaches a wide range of styles, including Rock, Blues, Country, and Jazz, and has performed locally in all of these genres. His lessons are highly individualized and built around each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. Session plans are carefully designed using today’s drum vocabulary, while incorporating classic drum standards when appropriate.
Bam creates custom exercises and musical études tailored specifically to each student’s musical path, integrating them into the core drumming repertoire at the right time. To keep students motivated and progressing between sessions, he regularly sends supplemental content that enhances the learning experience. He believes everyone learns differently and that effective teaching requires flexibility. He tailors materials as precisely as possible to the individual, using multiple approaches when needed. If a concept isn’t clicking, it’s not the student’s fault, it simply hasn’t been presented in the right way yet. Bam is passionate about finding the approach that helps each student truly understand and succeed, and he looks forward to guiding you on your musical journey.
