FAQs

How long will this plan stay in effect?

We are currently monitoring the response of the local and state government in regards to reopening. We will continue to update our policy as more information is available. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

How will my child learn by video?

We have been using Zoom for all our lessons since March 2020 and we have seen some of the best progress in our students ever. Students continue to grow, have fun, and learn new repertoire. Our parents have also given us excellent feedback about the efficacy of our Zoom lessons!

Best way to position your camera?

There are a couple of places that work.

  • For piano: it’s helpful to either have the camera propped up at the end of the piano keyboard (with selfie mode selected if using a phone) and the screen facing the keys. That way the student can see us and we can see their hands. Or put the computer or phone on a chair that’s to the right or left of the piano. Position the camera so that we can see the student and they can see us.
  • For voice: position the camera so that the student is in the camera frame from the waist up. This allows voice teachers to assess how students are breathing and using their lungs while singing.  It also makes it possible for the teacher to see gestures and staging while students are singing their pieces.
What is the best environment for the lesson?

In a quiet place at a piano or keyboard

What if I'm not concerned about COVID-19 and want my teacher to come to my house anyway?

At this time, we are encouraging all students to utilize the video lesson option.

For the spring semester we are offering limited in-person lessons as well as continuing our virtual lesson options.

Should you have concerns please contact us at support@musicfully.com

What about make up lessons and illness?

We’ll be following our regular makeup policy during this time. If you are unable to attend your  lesson and gave 24 hours notice then it will be counted as an absence and you will be given a makeup credit to use during the makeup week at the end of the semester.

  • Should a teacher record a temperature over 100° they will honor the in-person lesson with a virtual lesson at the specified lesson time for a period of 2 weeks to 10 days past completion of symptoms or a negative Covid-19 test.
  • Should a student or family member record a temperature over 100° the teacher will leave the house and a recorded lesson will be in effect, unless a makeup credit is available and requested.
  • Recorded lessons will be sent to the student within 48 hours of the original lesson time and will be the length of half of the original lesson.
  •  Should a student or family member record a temperature over 100° 2 weeks of virtual lessons will be observed unless the individual receives clearance from a doctor and returning before the 2 weeks is up to teacher discretion.
  • Should the teacher need to change the time of the lesson from in-home to virtual it is up to their discretion.
Can I reschedule the time of my lesson?

This is up to the discretion of the teacher. If they are available and willing to move times then yes, you may move your lesson time.

Teacher Expectations
  • Teachers will be required to fill out a survey monitoring any symptoms and to record a temperature, after passing the survey they will be able to teach in-home.
